Autism Assessments (ASD) in Adelaide
What an autism assessment involves
An autism assessment looks carefully at how a person communicates, relates to others, processes sensory information and responds to change, and considers whether those patterns meet the diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Every autism assessment begins with an initial consultation. A psychologist will ask about your concerns, your history and what you are hoping the assessment will tell you. From there, we decide together what the most appropriate approach is, including whether a formal autism assessment is the right step at all.
If an assessment goes ahead, it is tailored to your referral question. This can include gathering background information, structured sessions with a psychologist, and a feedback session to discuss what was found in plain language. We do not offer fixed packages, because different people can need different assessment approaches.
No referral is required to book an initial consultation.
Where the assessment takes place
Assessments are conducted at our rooms in Adelaide. Some components may be completed by telehealth where this is clinically appropriate. This is decided at the initial consultation, based on the assessment and your circumstances.
